Cindi Bosma (Advanced Ballet, Modern, Dance Team)
This is Cindi’s fifth year teaching at our studio. She choreographed many of the Act II variations in our 2004 and 2006 production of the Nutcracker Ballet. Prior to coming to Otsego, Cindi taught ballet for eight years at the former Dance City studio in Portage. She received her B.A. degree in Dance from Western Michigan University. For two years she was a senior company member and demisoloist with the Grand Rapids Ballet Company. Cindi has also danced with Young Michigan Dances in Coldwater as a soloist in the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and other ballets. She is a dental hygienist in Parchment and lives in Kalamazoo with her husband Andy and daughter Kenneson.
Kate Peters (Jazz, Tap, Dance Team)
Kate is a Junior dance major pursuing a BFA degree at Western Michigan University. She danced with the WMU Bronco National Champion Dance Team for two years. She is also a member in the Western Dance Company at WMU. Last year she was voted National Dance Alliance (NDA) “All-Ameican Collegiate Dancer” and WMU Dance Team “Rookie of the Year." She has a wealth of competition dance experience in all dance styles and has won top overall soloist at Starpower, Star Systems, Dance Masters, Dance USA, and Starquest competitions. Her teaching experience includes five years at Encore Dance Academy in Westland as well as NDA instructor/adjudicator during the summer of 2008. Kate has choreographed for high school musicals and for several color guard and winter guard units at Milford, Reeths-Puffer, and Lakeland High Schools. She was Miss Teen Dance in 2005-2006 and Talent Winner and 2nd Runner up for Michigan’s Junior Miss 2007.
Christy Schwartz (Pre-Ballet, Adult Tap)
Christy grew up in Otsego and was a student at our dance school for 14 years. After graduation from Otsego High School, she attended the University of Central Florida and then returned to Western Michigan University to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. She completed her Master of Arts degree in Sociology at WMU. Christy has taught pre-ballet and beginning tap for the past ten years. She has choreographed the annual musicals at Kalamazoo Central and Kalamazoo Christian High Schools the past seven years. She resides in Kalamazoo with her husband Mike and daughters Mia, Nora, and Ruby.
Julie Spiech (Pre-Ballet, Ballet, Dance Team)
Miss Julie is a very creative teacher and has been very successful with her Sweet Success Dance Company over the years. She began her dance studies in Allegan with Beth Campbell and the late Lynn Nahikian. She attended Western Michigan University where she took ballet, jazz, and modern dance classes. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Valley State University. Julie has been teaching at our dance school for 23 years. Her choreography for the Junior Dance Team has won many top awards over the last ten years. Julie has done choreography for the Miss Allegan Pageants and Miss Wayland Dahlia Pageants for many years. Julie and her husband Walter reside in Kalamazoo and have three daughters: Kerry, Kristen, and Emily and 3 granddaughters, Regan, Ireland, and Lincoln and 1 grandson, Nicholas.
