MARCH 2010 NEWSLETTER
Dear Students and Parents,
With the beautiful springlike weather we’ve had this past week, hopefully the worst of the cold and snow is behind us.
SNOW DAYS: Yes, we’ve had a few and yes, we will be making up all the cancelled classes we’ve had since December. My records show we have cancelled one Monday, one Tuesday, two Wednesdays, one Thursday and one Friday. Technique class (ballet, jazz, tap, etc.) makeups will be scheduled on a day other than the regular class day by the teachers of those classes. A note will be sent home with your child at least two weeks prior to the makeup day so you can plan. We encourage you to bring your child to the makeup lessons as we are now working on routines for our spring concerts.
PHD Dance Team rehearsals which fell on those snow days will not be made up.
CONCERT THEMES: Our younger students” concert will be called “Some of My Favorite Things”. All three and four year old classes and the Saturday five year old class will have their show at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday May 1 at the Otsego High School Auditorium. Dress rehearsal for these students will be at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30 at the auditorium. The remainder of the 5 year old classes, the six and seven year old Beg. Ballet classes, and Beginning Tap class will have their show at 7:00 p.m. on May 1. Dress rehearsal for these students will be at 6:30 on April 30.
We try our best to get families with two or more children in the same show. We have only five families that will have to attend both shows. Each show lasts no longer than an hour. More information will be sent home after Spring Break.
Our older students’ concert is at 4:00 and 7:00 on Saturday, June 12 at the Otsego High School Auditorium. The 4:00 show will feature our classical ballet classes in the ballet “Cinderella”. The 7:00 show will feature our jazz, tap, hip hop, modern, and gymnastics classes in a “Music from the Movies” theme. Dress rehearsal will be on Friday, June 11 at 5:00 p.m. Again, more information will be sent home after Spring Break.
SPRING BREAK WILL BE HELD FROM APRIL 4 - 10. Dance Team rehearsals will resume on Sunday, April 11.
PARENTS!!!!!! Please be responsible for your young children in the lobby. We do not mind you waiting while your child is in class, but we are having a lot of complaints lately about children throwing things and running up and down the hallway during classes. With the warmer weather ahead, you might want to take them over to the park right behind the studio.
